Shiohitashi Onsen Ryoma Park is a sightseeing spot in Kirishima City, Kagoshima Prefecture, where history and nature are in harmony. The park is known as the place where Sakamoto Ryoma and his wife Oryo, a famous samurai in the closing days of the Tokugawa Shogunate, visited on their honeymoon. There is also a free "Ryoma and Oryu's Footbath of Marriage" that offers a quick and easy way to enjoy the feeling of a hot spring (disposable towels are available for 100 yen). In addition, the "Ryoma Museum: Out of This World" features an exhibit introducing Ryoma's relationship with Satsuma and Kirishima, allowing visitors to learn about the historical background in depth. There is also a monument in the park commemorating their newlywed hot-spring cure, allowing visitors to retrace their footsteps. Also popular are the onsen tamago (hot spring eggs), which are sold for 100 yen. Access to the park is convenient; it is about a 15-minute drive from Kagoshima Airport and within walking distance of the bus stop. This is a spot where visitors can soak in hot springs, learn about history, and relax in nature.
